umm...where do i start???
it's been way too long since I last wrote and so much has happen. most of you heard that our van (the one that had all that work done on it just before we left Juneau) never completed it's long trek across the Yukon. it actually died in the wilderness roughly 25 miles short of the nearest town (population 100) called Destruction Bay (--how appropriate, eh?). long story short...it wasn't worth repairing and it would have been a $700 tow job just to get it to where it could be repaired. so for the last month we've been relying on public transport (with our 18 weeks worth of personal and office belongings) as well as borrowing hosts' vehicles. but God's provided in the most awesome ways thru hosts, churches, strangers even. i wish i could have recorded all the miracles we've seen. unfortunately, internet access and time was not in my favor.
new beginnings...
how fitting it is that just shortly after Easter we're starting over in many ways here on this unit. we lost a unit member last week. he went home for the rest of mission so we're down to a two person unit. it's been a hard tour all mission but in some ways, this is like having a new start. we're regrouping and it'll be a lot of work but at least i'm blessed w/a very supportive teammate.
a new vehicle...
praise God praise God praise God...we've got a NEW VAN!!!!!!! we finally collected enough donations and found the right van in the right place. just yesterday we drove off the dealership lot w/a 2000 Chrysler Voyager. God is so good. we on this team and those in the office and many many of you (friends, family , church) have been praying daily for us and finally, our cries/need were answered. this minivan is such an incredible blessing. it's more than we were even expecting. it's even got a CD player and a TV/VCR in the back. everybody's gonna want to tour with me now! and the dealership brought the sale price down another $2000 for us so that it would fit into what we had collected. i just feel like this is such an awesome testimony of God's extravagant grace and i know i've been so incredibly blessed. i will thank him every day of this tour for that van and for those who helped us.
a special thank you to my home church, Chinese Evangelical Free Church (in Monterey Park, CA) and to that special couple from my church (you know who you are) who gave especially large gifts to help answer this prayer/need. i pray God would increase His blessing on you even more.
