Retreat Day
Today we had our unit retreat day. Allison and I spent part of the day at the Fort Abercrombie State Park in Kodiak Island (Alaska). It was gorgeous and it was actually sunny today. (My host says we brought sunshine with us to the Island.) I've got a lot to process through still but it was a good day. One of the themes running through the Scriptures and other readings was Courage and how perfect love casts out fear (I John 4:18). I felt this was very applicable to us. I don't think of myself as that courageous of a person and Alaska is not a place for the timid. I know that God equips us for what He calls us to, though and I've had it on my heart all mission long that the Lord wants us to serve Him boldly. He "has not given us a spirit of timidity but of boldness" (I Timothy 1). He also wants us to "fan into flame" those gifts He's given us.

Pray that God would teach me to be that leader He's called me to be and that I would be what/who I need to be for the people here and for my teammate.
