transitions...
gosh, i haven't writtten in a really long time. and this is gonna be a relatively short one too. i can't sleep right now. i think i'm too stressed. i guess i find it very difficult to balance friendships & leadership on this team. i know i'm trying too hard to meet everybody's needs as well as wants and it's not working. it doesn't work that way and i need to stop trying to make everyone happy. in the meantime, i'm stressing myself out.
my unit is in this really weird transition time right now. amanda (who's now in her 8th month of pregnancy) performed with us for the last time today. her husband, jordan is w/us for one more week and then he goes too. oh...i don't think i ever wrote about our new missioner who joined us about 5 weeks into mission. so she's been w/us for just over a month and that's also meant some adjust ments for us as a unit. her name is xochil and she's from nicaragua. she's our answer to prayer. it's gonna be tough when it comes down to just the two of us, though. i had to do it last tour in alaska w/allison nelson but she had a bit more experience under her belt by that time and she also wasn't working in a 2nd language. anyway, pray for us all. it's kind of crazy right now.
i had a lot of fun performing today at two nursing homes, though. it's been a while since we've performed as a four person unit. the first show wasn't our smoothest but it was still good ministry. i've got a very personable team that is wonderful w/talking w/the residents after programs which i feel is just as important as the shows we do. doing the two shows today made me miss the old days where i toured on very busy units. we've picked up alot of short-notice performances this tour but we started off with a really empty calendar-- 11 scheduled performances between mid-August to mid-December. to put that into perspective, my first four tours, i missioned in areas where we performed on average about 100 times per tour. i miss that. it's hard to stay focused/motivated when there isn't a lot on our calendar. it's also hard to stay disciplined and focused as a semi-home-based unit. as wonderful as it is here at Amanda's parents place and as much as I love them and appreciate how they've really taken us under their wing, it's really difficult to feel like i'm on the road and i think it really affects our work habits.
gosh, this wasn't as short as i was expecting.
one more thing...
BON-BON...
if you ever check this...i'm really sorry i wasn't able to get a hold of you on your birthday. i miss you very much, little sister and i wish i knew how to get a hold of you. call me some time, okay? i love you.
