Highlights from my last few days being back in California...

After our two-day road trip from Houston, TX (where we ended tour) to Cardiff-by-the-Sea which is close to San Diego, CA (where my teammate Liliana's spending her break) we finally got in at about 10:30pm.

Friday was spent w/Lila just relaxing...we walked along the beach, had good coffee, a nice lunch, watched "Apollo 13" (--especially after visiting NASA last week), did my nails...ahhh, a really nice day.

Sharon, Bonnie, and Butch came down to get me Saturday afternoon and then we stopped in at my parents for about an hour and then...

Off to the Koinonia Xmas party I went. It felt so surreal. I hadn't really adjusted to being back yet and seeing a whole bunch of people was kind of a shock to the system-- but it was really good to see such a wonderful bunch. Actually, what's really funny was the first handful of people I saw were all former Youth Choir members that I used to direct. Isn't that crazy? Being in the same fellowship as your former youth choir members??? I mean, they've turned out wonderfully and I had a great time. But maybe I'm getting to old for the group! Maybe it's time to move on...Hmm...

Today--er, I mean yesterday-- (I forgot it's past midnight) we had Christmas service at church. I really enjoyed it. Richard Lew gave a really good sermon w/excellent illustrations. And Danette and Victoria sang a duet ("O Holy Night") and they sounded so good together. It was very passionate and heartfelt. They actually made me tear up. You know, travelling around to all these different churches around the world really makes me appreciate even more the caliber of the talent we have here. I mean, they sounded really professional and that's not a given at every church.

After church I went to Tea Station w/ a bunch of people. Debbie & Jason were kind enough to chauffeur me. :) That was my first taste of Chinese food since I've been back. (I don't normally make it through the first evening w/o Chinese food whenever I'm back!)

In a few hours (after I've caught some "zzzz's") I'll be heading to San Diego again-- this time w/family. I'm actually really excited. It's been a long time since we've had a little family getaway-- and actually, I think its the first one we've had w/Butch and Baby Aaron as part of our family too now. Should be good.
