a long-awaited picture of anything, period, on this blog.

i'm in poznan, poland right now, staying with a wonderful family, the Beckers (Tim, Spring, Nate, and Emma). the beckers have been very very helpful--as always-- to us. tim's a computer whiz and helped me upgrade some stuff and showed me what a "web feed" was. he was also my inspiration to finally do something about adding pictures to this. [you can also thank my mom and dad who gave me the digital camera (it was dad's). i finally caved in and accepted the digital camera since i couldn't find my old fashioned traditional camera.] he was also our hero, taking us to two different places to get our tires replaced (--more on that later). and his wife, Spring, is like a breath of fresh air. (Sorry, no pun intended.) she's just absolutely wonderful to be around. tonight we made curry together-- well, kind of together. she did all the dirty work for me-- cutting, chopping, prep'ing. i just added seasonings. anyway, it turned out quite well and we all enjoyed it and it was so nice to have some asian food again. boy, do i miss it when i'm away from home (which is of course, most of the time).

we're just nearing the end of our first week of mission in Poland. this tour goes from 4 February- 12 June. already it's been quite an adventure. we found out we had two really worn tires in the front and mismatched tires in the back. we got two new tires put in the front and they moved the old ones to the back so that at least we would have a matching pair. the mechanic was very nice (and very patient with my broken polish!). he showed me the mismatched tires-- they were different sizes! no wonder we'd been noticing that our vehicle pulled to the right when we drove. we'll still have to get the rear tires replaced pretty soon but for now, we're good to go to szczecin tomorrow-- a good six hour drive.


besides having the opportunity to see some old friends here in Poznan (like the Beckers and also paulina weremiuk), I've also gained some new ones. we met two young ladies involved in a catholic-based ministry called "youth for youth". monika and justyna are basically missionaries to their own country. i was so encouraged to hear of all they're doing in trying to share the gospel w/youth in prisons, children's homes, and schools.

i'll have to write about my team some time. they're wonderful! but that's for another time...
